A Brief History of the Alumni Association of the CLSC

The Alumni Association of the CLSC was incorporated on June 7, 1893. Its primary mission was to provide an organization for CLSC graduates to continue reading and learning, as well as supporting CLSC activities and programs. Alumni Hall opened in 1892. It remains the center of activity for the AACLSC.

The AACLSC maintains the first floor of the Literary Arts Center at Alumni Hall on behalf of all graduates. It is home to class meetings and events, book discussions and lectures, Eventide talks, and Docent Tours. The Guild of Seven Seals, the Pansy Collection, the Winifred Kemp Reading Room, the Kate Kimball room, the extensive, ever-changing banner collection - all are pieces of the rich history of the Alumni Association of the CLSC that remain operative today.  The Winifred Kemp Reading Room contains every CLSC selection since the CLSC's formation in 1878.
